Celebrating Two Decades of EVE Online

All tickets for this landmark occasion have been snapped up. Attendees and fans alike can look forward to a series of announcements, unexpected twists, and memorable moments that celebrate the community at the heart of EVE Online.

The EVE Online team has revealed details for the highly anticipated Gallente-sponsored Alliance Tournament XIX (AT XIX), set to commence on June 24. The tournament will see 46 teams vying for just 28 spots in the Feeders Tournament, the preliminary qualifier for the main 32-team event set to take place in August.

In a departure from previous events, no competitors were allowed to bid directly into the main tournament. Instead, they must secure their spots through the grueling Feeders Tournament. The entire tournament will be livestreamed over four weekends on CCPTV, in collaboration with partners EVE NT.

The top four teams from Alliance Tournament XVIII, namely TRUTH.HONOUR.LIGHT., Odin’s Call, WE FORM VOLTA, and The Tuskers Co., have been directly invited to participate in AT XIX. They will join the 28 teams that emerge from the Feeders Tournament, forming the line-up for the main event.

The full schedule for the Feeders Tournament is now available, with the first match set to take place between Goonswarm Federation and Snuffed Out. The tournament schedule has seen some adjustments, with Prismatic Legion and Singularity Syndicate withdrawing, resulting in ‘Arrival.’ and ‘A Band Apart’ advancing automatically in their first-round matchups.

A highlight of the tournament will be the use of Twitch’s native prediction functionality for each match, allowing players to flaunt their tournament knowledge and earn exclusive SKINs and other prizes.

The Gallente are returning in style to host the Alliance Tournament after their last stint at AT VIII. A plethora of prizes await the daring competitors, including exclusive ships for the top-ranking teams. The prize distribution ranges from 40 frigates and cruisers for the winners of the finals to 2 frigates and cruisers for the teams knocked out in losers round 3.

This addition essentially expands the corporation’s revenue model beyond ISK, the primary currency in the EVE universe. The change will allow corporations to benefit from members’ activities that generate LP, such as factional warfare and missions.

Furthermore, Viridian paves the way for corporations to make a unique mark in the EVE universe. Thanks to the Super-Kerr Induced Nanocoating Resequencer (SKINR) tool, corporations can now create a visual identity for their Upwell structures. This development not only aids brand recognition but also adds another layer to the game’s immersive gameplay.

On the combat front, the expansion introduces Tech II lancer dreadnoughts, a new class of ships. These lancer dreadnoughts come with area-of-effect disruptive lance weapons, offering unique combat strategies. Four different lancers representing the four main empires of EVE are being added, opening up new tactical opportunities for the capsuleers.

Meanwhile, the game’s capital ships construction process is also getting an overhaul. A series of changes aim to ease bottlenecks in the building process, with the ultimate goal of getting more ships built and subsequently flown in the space. EVE Anywhere, the cloud-based platform that allowed players to play the popular space-based MMO EVE Online in their browsers, will be discontinued on May 24. The announcement was made on the EVE Online forums by CCP Zelus, a community developer for the game.

EVE Anywhere was launched in 2022 as a new way to play EVE Online, offering players the ability to access the game through their web browser, without having to download the full client. The service was initially only available in limited regions, but it was later expanded to more countries.

According to CCP Zelus, the company will continue to support EVE Anywhere up until May 24. However, players will no longer be able to make PLEX payments through the service from May 22. PLEX is a virtual currency used in EVE Online that can be used to purchase game time, items, and services.

The announcement has surprised many players, as EVE Anywhere had only been available for a year. However, CCP Zelus thanked all the players who had used the service and promised that CCP remains open to exploring new ways for players to access EVE Online in the future.

In the meantime, players can still access EVE Online through other cloud gaming services, such as NVIDIA’s GeForce NOW. Additionally, CCP is encouraging players to join the ongoing Launcher Beta to help shape its development.
