Genfanad has announced a number of updates and improvements that it will be rolling out over the coming months. The developers, who describe themselves as still being in an Early-Access-like state, are planning a “soft relaunch” once they are satisfied with the overall state of the game.

One of the key changes being made to the game is the implementation of a new philosophy focused on “preparation gameplay”. The developers want players to think carefully about the resources they use and how they use them, rather than simply clicking as fast as possible. To this end, they will be introducing a number of new mechanics, such as damage types and cooperative sub-games, to keep players engaged and thinking strategically.

Other changes being made to the game include improvements to combat and quests, the addition of loadout-based abilities, and an overhaul of the early game in terms of content. The developers are also planning to make the game more visually appealing, with a new cartoony appearance, particle effects, and a more cohesive world design.

While there is still much work to be done, the developers are committed to creating a game that is both accessible and engaging for players. With a Steam launch on the horizon, they are hoping to attract a large number of new players and retain existing ones with the exciting new updates and improvements to Genfanad.

The title was successful in raising over $19,821 on Kickstarter.

If you’re looking for a change of pace in your MMO gaming, Genfanad may be a perfect choice and the beta is set to begin next month.

We all know that the MMORPG community is filled to the brim with old-school fans of games like Everquest or Runescape, that wish for nothing more than a new game that is exactly like Everquest or Runescape (I’m one of them), and recently titles to satisfy the cravings of these nostalgic middle-aged gamers have been popping up left and right.

Genfanad (Generic Fantasy Adventure) seems to cater to the same crowd but with a generous amount of humor as they’ve set out to turn “traditional RPG tropes on their head”.

Genfanad is a nostalgic browser-based MMORPG that draws inspiration from the greats of the early 2000’s. Create your character and embark in a vast, open fantasy world full of quests, resources to gather and enemies to fight. The world of Genfanad throws traditional RPG tropes on their head – banter with demon stockbrokers, parlay with eloquent undead and, of course, slay lowly chickens.
